Drinking to music
Definitions of drunk:
1) Having one's faculties impaired by alcohol
2) Being dominated by an intense feeling
3) A feeling of strong excitement or elation
One definition of music:
An agreeable sound which is capable of arousing the emotional and physical senses.
We can therefore determine that 'Drunk on Music' does not necessarily need an intake of alcoholic beverages to make us drunk. Music is intoxicating with or without alcohol, bridging the extremes of euphoria and sadness and capable of inducing tears or the desire to dance like a raving lunatic.

Untitled
I wipe the sweat from my brow
But it's not the fear 'cause
I'd rather go now
Trying to visualize the horrors
That will lie ahead
The desert sand mound
A burial ground
When it comes to the time
Are we partners in crime?
When it comes to the time
We'll be ready to die
God, let us go now
And finish what's to be done
Thy kingdom come
Thy shall be done on Earth
Trying to justify to ourselves
The reasons to go
Should we live and let live
Forget or forgive
But how can we let them
Go on this way?
The reign of terror, corruption must end
And we know deep down
There's no other way
No trust, no reasoning
No more to say

Biblical questions
If god is so powerful, why can he not write the bible himself? Instead, he risks typos and errors and miscommunications between the people who first wrote the bible ... Ooops! FYI: The bible was not written. YES. It was ASSEMBLED from many different writings from all sorts of gospels to stories of this and that .... all that conformed to one purpose. What was the purpose? Not to give the christians a documentation of their faith. No. The real purpose? So Emperor Constantine can have one religion to unite his empire.
The first christian Bible was assembled at constantinople. By the way, the emperor himself was a pagan who had himself baptized to christianity at the hour of his death. (wise ass) As I watched the discovery channel documentary, `Books banned from the Bible' ---- I began to see why the church leaders chose to expel some of those books out of the Bible. Some were rather full of rage or hate. Others, the book of jubillee says adam and eve had 9 children. Cain killed abel, and then married his sister. It was difficult for the church to accept that the human race was made out of incest.
And the best for last, the gospel of peter. Oh good lord, peter himself was expelled from the bible! The peter, the rock! Expelled? Here was his gospel. He asked the lord why ....if he is such an all-loving God, he allows souls to be tormented in hell (down there). The lord answered him: Shhhhhh! Don't tell anyone. Those people in hell are all going to be saved in the end. For now, I just let them suffer, but in the end they too will be forgiven.
Now I know why that gospel of peter never made it to the bible. heheheh of course. if i was the church, that is a perfectly logical thing to do. hehe but if what peter said was true --- and the church included that story in the bible? I WOULD HAVE BEEN A BELIEVER. If the church never threw any of the stories out, everything, every detail would have answered itself, and I wouldnt have to ask any of those questions myself. Something tells me the church has a bigger `agenda' than just saving souls. If that is the case, I wouldn't trust them, or any of their writings. or any of their beliefs, or any of their teachings.
I have teachings of my own, thank you. Something more practical. Something more useful. Something that actually makes people do good, rather than waste time praying. If you run a test, your faith will fail you. You think the lord will save you? Jump off from the top of the building. then pray. see what happens.

Spanish colonialism
During the Spanish colonial period, the country had encountered transformations in its daily customs. The arrival of the Spaniards in 1565 brought Spanish culture and language. The Spanish conquerors established a strict class system that was based on race and soon imposed Roman Catholicism on the native population.

Gaara's determination
Gaara: I know. I know, but just sitting around waiting will cause more fear and suffering. In order to escape a path of loneliness, I have no choice but to work hard and make my own path. If I do that, then someday… someday… I can be like him. That’s why, as a shinobi of the Sand, I’ll aim to be the Kazekage. So I can live a life connected to my village.
Kankorou: Gaara…
Gaara: I want to work hard so that others will accept my existence. That’s what I thought when I looked at Uzumaki Naruto. Up until now, my bonds with others have only been ones of hatred and murder. But, seeing him fight so hard made me wonder what a bond really is. I think I understand a little now. Suffering, sadness… and joy. To be able to share it with another person… Uzumaki Naruto… when I fought him, I feel that is what he taught me. He experienced the same type of suffering as I. And he taught me that you can change how you live your life. Someday, I want my existence to be necessary to others. Not as a weapon to be feared, but as the Hidden Village of Sand’s Kazekage.

Erin Brockovich
In a world where heroes are often in short supply, the story of Erin Brockovich is an inspirational reminder of the power of the human spirit. Her passion, tenacity and steadfast desire to fight for the rights of the underdog defied the odds…her victory made even sweeter by the fact that while helping others, she in turn helped herself.
Erin Brockovich is a stirring, funny and unconventional drama based on true events, starring two-time Academy Award* nominee Julia Roberts as the twice-divorced mother of three young children who sees an injustice, takes on the bad guy and wins.
With no money, no job and no prospects on the horizon, Erin Brockovich (Roberts) is a woman in a tight spot. Following a car accident in which Erin is not at fault, she finds herself even worse off when her attorney fails to land her any kind of settlement. With nowhere else to turn, Erin pleads with her attorney Ed Masry (Albert Finney) to hire her at his law firm. It is there, while working, that Erin stumbles upon some medical records placed in real estate files. Confused, she begins to question the connection. She convinces Ed to allow her to investigate, where she discovers a cover-up involving contaminated water in a local community which is causing devastating illnesses among its residents.
Although the local citizens are initially leery of becoming involved, Erin's persistence and the personal interest she takes in their lives makes them listen. A kindred spirit, Erin is one of them, and her ability to connect with them on their level makes them comfortable, ultimately earning their trust. Helping her out is her next door neighbor George (Aaron Eckhart), a Harley Davidson biker whose friendship and support allows her the time to pursue the case. Going door to door, she signs up over 600 plaintiffs, and Erin and Ed, with the help of a major law firm, go on to receive the largest settlement ever paid in a direct-action lawsuit in U.S. history....$333 million. By triumphing over insurmountable odds, she is able to prove herself, and reinvent her life.
Erin discovers that Pacific Gas and Electric is buying up the townspeople's property in a way that seems designed to steer them away from asking questions about the possible connections between company-contaminated groundwater and local health problems. So Erin becomes the people's champion and, after convincing Ed to join the crusade, heads for a legal battle with a $30 billion corporation.

My world, my rules
I love being the best.
- Humility is not a necessity. If you are humble, amen. But if you're great, and you know you are, let the whole world know about it if you can.
- If you need someone to look up to, idolize God. That way, you will always have a goal in life, knowing no one can ever be better than God. You can only serve Him.
- The matrix' Neo is right: destiny is non-existent. You fell because you chose to. You can stand up whenever you want.
- You alone can never have everything you want in this world. Pick a trustworthy friend you may want to share EVERYTHING with.
- Don't dissect bedtime fairytale stories trying to look for morals. If they don't look for you, then that means you don't deserve them.
- When in doubt, never flip a coin. Instead, play a quick game of chess against yourself.
- When in trouble, don't build a specialized armor to separate you form your problem. Accept all blows first. Remember that wounds heal.
- Never pour all your hard-earned time in preparing. Spontaneity is a vital gift only a few people possess, much less manage to hone.
- Time is imaginary. It was invented by worry-warts. Honestly, I never saw anyone get something good out of time.

Coincidence?
If I follow what the letter has led me to believe, it seems this is not a coincidence but fate. However, the mind only sees what it wants to see. So far, the story has been gathering numbers 9, 11, 254, etc. Okay, what about those numbers that did not match? The numbers that matched make up only a small percentage of the total numbers in question. Maybe there really was a message amidst the chaos.

All in the family
Healthy families generally produce healthy children. It's a simple equation; if children have a warm, stable and supportive environment to grow up in, they will most likely grow into emotionally healthy adults. And if they grow up in a home of conflict and instability, they will probably struggle to adjust to the challenges of life. Now of course, there is always free will. Rotten eggs can come from the best homes, and stars can shine forth from the worst. Abraham, whose father owned an idol store, is a classic example of this.

Life's meaning
Life is indeed, so short. And, oddly enough, it is much shorter for those whose lives they find meaningful while it is too long for those whose lives they find meaningless.
Couldn't it be that life is what meaning we put into it?
Now and then, I also ask what meaning has my life really. Often, I feel like I know but at other times, my thinking looks like a useless mental exercise. Life is just so vast, so full of mysteries that before I can put meaning to my life, part of it is gone and the meaning I try putting on it is already partly exhausted.
Life, so it seems, is like dry sand slipping through my fingers. When I try to hold on to itvery tightly as if squeezing it, it slips away faster. But when I try to cast it away, it sticks on my hands. Sometimes, I think, to appreciate life best, one has neither to hold on to it tightly nor to let it go so carelessly. The sand in the hourglass is life. It is better to let it flow freely, although not carelessly.
How we take life is often dictated by what priorities we have. And life, being so vast, offers everything which can be a priority to us. A student ever so eager to get out of poverty would say, "Life will be meaningless if I don't finish my studies." A terribly-in-love woman would say, "Should I lose him now, life will be meaningless to me." And an alcoholic, trembling with the urge to drink, would be ready to give anything he has, even his dignity, for a bottle of liquor. Then, there is this young ambitious businessman who desperately wants to make his first million before reaching forty. He easily forgets he has a wife, children and friends. Only the first million seems to matter.
But now, what are the things that last which could have real meaning in one's life? Have you ever thought of this?
As they say, there are in the end three things that last: faith, hope and love, and the greatest is love.

Philippine poetry
Ang Pagpupugay: Pambansang Alagad ng Sining at Literatura celebrated the 2008 Philippine Arts Month Celebration and it showcased the promotion of literature through lectures and performances and the living National Artist for Literature Dr. Edith Lopez Tiempo with her poetic works were staged during the said event.
According to Tiempo, creating a poem means the proper structuring of its two basic constituents, the form and the content, and poetry writers know that in the actual performance, the emphasis is concentrated on the structuring of form rather than on content, and the reason is obvious: At the very start, it is taken for granted that the writer has something to say; the content is therefore early established and takes a back seat while the form and its craftsmanship, gets the writer’s prominent attention.
She scrutinized the works of a number of seasoned writers, and fortunately – at least for her as a writer of poems - she has isolated four ways of enriching the poetic content: 1) by reverberating the theme of the poem; 2) by including indigenous wit and humor; 3) by using very learned and scholarly esoteric materials; and 4) by adopting an unusual and startling idea or concept to serve as the core of the poetic content.
Tiempo also added that there is so much concentration on form in our poetry writing today, so that crafting has become more and more refined through the use of subtle and intricate devices such as indirection, tone control, suggestiveness, ambivalence and ambiguity, thematic tension, understatement, among many others. This is not to say that the writer should reduce his attention regarding form; what we are saying is that all this meticulous crafting on the poetic form has been at the cost of poetic content, the constituent that has largely been taken for granted.

Tragedy of the commons
The "Tragedy of the Commons" is a metaphor which should not be taken too literally as defining the concept. The phrase is a shorthand for a phenomenon, not an accurate description of it. Hardin himself said that he used the word "tragedy" in the sense that the philosopher Alfred North Whitehead used it: "the remorseless working of things". The "tragedy" should not be seen as tragic in the conventional sense, nor must it be taken as condemnation of the processes that are ascribed to it.

An inconvenient truth
One of the powerful lines in the film of Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" comes toward the end when Al Gore sent out the problem of global warming. He said that there's a scientific consensus in which all the scientists who have written about this agreed global warming as a problem and the people sometimes move from denial, pretending that there's no problem, to despair, they think that there's nothing they can do. Al Gore begins to set out in the film what people can do to avoid despair and to solve the problem.

Science? Bible? Who decides?
Not so long ago, we were assigned to make a reaction paper in our Biology 1 class about the two most debated modern day theories: the theory of evolution and creationism. It really bothered me up until now.
